The 10 Best TV Series of 2025 – a subjective ranking
Streaming platforms are competing with each other in terms of their TV series offerings, which has its pros and cons. There are more and more productions, but it is also becoming increasingly difficult to choose what to watch. Sometimes the series most praised by critics turn out to be a total mistake in our eyes, and sometimes the opposite is true – completely underrated soap operas unexpectedly appeal to us. Here is my subjective selection of TV series from 2025 that I watched with interest and, above all, without feeling like I had wasted my time.
Best TV series of 2025
1. ”Severance” 2

For me, the absolute number one series of 2025 is the second season of “Severance” The Apple TV production did not disappoint and maintained the high standard of the first series. The series is set in the not-too-distant future, and the main character is Mark (Adam Scott), who, trying to recover from the death of his wife, decides to take part in a social experiment. He gets a job at a company that splits people’s personalities into two completely separate ones: professional and private. However, it soon turns out that this seemingly simple solution, intended to increase work efficiency, raises many doubts.
“Severance” is a fascinating science fiction thriller with suspenseful action and well-conceived characters. Each of the characters in the series is a separate microcosm, which we work out based on scattered clues, like a seasoned detective mystery. Interesting elements surprise us both in terms of the plot, the world presented, and on a psychological level. The entire series can be interpreted in various ways; personally, I see it as a metaphorical story about Jung’s Shadow.
2. ”Black Rabbit”

Another good miniseries that was worth watching in 2025, in my opinion, is Netflix’s “Black Rabbit”. The story of a New York restaurateur rapidly climbing the ladder of success provokes many fundamental questions about life. Does earning a lot of money always force you to make moral compromises? Can you judge a person without knowing their history? How much does a difficult childhood influence our fate? And does belonging to an elite yet corrupt world really pay off?
The main roles are brilliantly written and performed by phenomenal actors: Jude Law and Jason Bateman are a real treat on screen. The series never lets you get bored, drawing you into a sensational, thickening plot and surprising you with a striking finale. An interesting portrait of New York – a city that offers a fast-track career and an equally spectacular downfall, a metropolis with two faces: dark, but also seductively charming – adds to the series’ appeal.
3. “Heweliusz: TV Mini Series 2025”

“Heweliusz” will certainly be remembered as a significant Polish series of 2025. Jan Holoubek’s production, following “High Water“, proves once again that this creator belongs to the elite of Polish cinema, which can confidently compete with series from around the world. In five episodes, “Heweliusz” tells the story of one of the most tragic maritime disasters in Polish history – the sinking of the Jan Heweliusz ferry in the Baltic Sea on January 14, 1993. The events are shown from many different perspectives, taking into account the social and political context. This resulted in the creation of a complex picture of a great tragedy, far from black-and-white conclusions.
The scenes of the disaster are incredibly impressive. The night shots of the struggle with the sea are genuinely terrifying. Personally, the series made such a striking impression on me that I will certainly not be taking a ferry trip on the Baltic Sea for a long time. A galaxy of Polish actors was involved in the production, led by Borys Szyc, Michał Żurawski, and Magdalena Różdżka. They all played their roles extremely credibly and rose to the challenge. Heweliusz is therefore a well-made, interesting, and important series.
4. ”Aniela”

I am also including Netflix’s “Aniela” on my list of the best series of 2025. This production completely surprised me, and I started watching it out of pure curiosity, without expecting much. I couldn’t have been more wrong – I devoured the series in one go, marveling at the finesse with which the creators managed to combine the different faces of Warsaw: the wealthy and elite, the hipster, and the poor Praga housing estate. The link between these worlds is the main character, Aniela (a great role played by Małgorzata Kożuchowska), once a wealthy lady from high society, who, abandoned by her husband, has to cope with so-called reality. And she does it phenomenally, interestingly, completely contrary to the moralistic model of hard work, which is supposed to ennoble, but by exploiting the intricacies of Warsaw’s underworld.
“Aniela” had me in tears thanks to its original, ironic humor, which I haven’t seen in any Polish comedy for a long time. Her adventures, shown with a grain of salt, are funny, romantic, surprising, and above all, captivating. The storyline of young female rappers who, like Eminem from 8 Mile, are to face off in a battle of words with the popular Banan, is extremely interesting. The latter character was clearly conceived as a key figure, as he bears many characteristics of the well-known singer Maty. The series does a great job of showcasing young actors, among whom my favorite is definitely Filip Pławiak in the role of Armani.
5. ”Untamed”

“Untamed” is a series worth watching primarily for Eric Bana’s excellent performance. The actor, playing a National Park Service agent investigating the murder of a young girl, commands attention in every scene. He hides a secret that we gradually uncover as we delve into the unique atmosphere of Yosemite, California. Trauma from the past seems to mark almost every tree in the beautiful but wild and dangerous landscape. The scenery is also a projection of the inner world of the protagonist, lost in his own dramatic experiences.
The crime plot is surprising and is resolved in an unconventional way. “Untamed” thus skillfully combines the classics of the genre with psychological depth and local color. The series offers everything you would expect from this type of production. It is therefore worth spending a few evenings watching it.
6. “Sirens”

Another 2025 series that I didn’t approach with enthusiasm, but which turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I was afraid that “Sirens” would be a somewhat artificial production in the style of “The Perfect Couple“, due to the similar theme and setting: the wealthy American elite hiding their sins behind a facade of luxury. However, “Sirens” offers much more. It is primarily an interesting portrait of several women, played by excellent actresses: Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy, and Milly Alcock. Three heroines at different stages of life, with different expectations, dreams, and personalities. Each surprises us with her life choices. And of course, as is often the case in life, appearances can be deceiving, the most innocent face can hide quite wicked intentions, and a stony face is often just a defensive mask protecting a sensitive interior.
I recommend “Sirens” as a visually appealing, colorful series that encourages reflection on complex human motivations. It could be advertised with a slogan taken from the title of a popular film: “What do women want?” Sometimes it turns out that it’s not what you might expect.
7. ”Education XD”

A really funny entry on my list of the best series of 2025 – “Education XD”. This is the second season of “Emigration XD”, which I liked much more than the first, perhaps because of the Polish context. In the previous part, Malcolm (Tomasz Włosok) left for the UK in search of work, where he and his friend Stomil (Michał Balicki) experienced a series of funny adventures. In “Education XD,” as the title suggests, the protagonist intends to focus on his education, i.e., finish his studies. When he has to complete an internship, he finds himself caught up in a whirlwind of absurd adventures that have quite real foundations in Polish reality. Malcolm and Stomil are hired by a certain President Kobielak and his Notary Korytka.
Andrzej Frycz, as the President, created one of the most iconic characters of his career. It is surpassed only by the role of the diabolical Dariusz from the series “Blinded by the Lights”. The President is the living embodiment of a dubious businessman who tries to make a deal out of literally everything, mainly all kinds of scams legalized by the complexities of Polish law. The black humor of “Education XD” is an excellent tool for presenting Polish problems in a distorted mirror.
8. ”Pluribus”

An Apple TV series based on a highly original plot idea. Humanity is infected with a mysterious virus that robs everyone of their individual personalities and ability to feel negative emotions. People become, in a sense, a single organism programmed to live in eternal peace and happiness. However, twelve people on planet Earth prove to be immune to the infection. Among them is American writer Carol (Rhea Seehorn), who tries to find a way to return to normality.
“Pluribus” encourages reflection on contemporary culture, exposes the violent nature of all practices of forcing happiness on people, and makes us think about the suppression of negative feelings. The series also has an interesting Polish angle – Carol’s caregiver is a Polish woman named Zosia (Karolina Wydra). The actress is really great, captivating with her beauty and original style. In my opinion, at times she even steals the show from Rhea Seehorn, coming across as much more interesting and intriguing than the main character.
9. ”Silo” 2

This year’s continuation of the popular Apple TV series “Silo” was presented in an interesting way. The post-apocalyptic story of humanity, which survived a nuclear holocaust in a huge underground silo, aroused considerable emotion among viewers. In the first season, thanks to the main character, Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson), the basic dogmas on which the authoritarian order of the mini-state was built were called into question. A talented mechanic promoted to the position of sheriff of the silo raised doubts as to whether the outside world was really contaminated and whether people should be afraid to leave their underground hideout. In the second season, we have the opportunity to explore what lies beyond the silo with Juliette. Will Juliette discover some kind of deception, or will she confirm that the old world has been irretrievably destroyed?
The series will certainly appeal to lovers of good science fiction cinema, but not only. Based on a series of novels by Hugh Howey, it presents themes straight out of the classics of the genre. I couldn’t help but draw parallels with Stanisław Lem’s “Memoirs Found in the Bathtub.” In addition to the plot similarities, we are presented with a meticulous analysis of the mechanisms of authoritarianism as a social system based primarily on fear of threat.
10. ”White Lotus” 3

And the last item on my list of good TV series of 2025: the third season of “White Lotus”. And another surprise – I was convinced that the formula of carefree vacations in exotic locations with a criminal twist in the background would turn out to be a bit hackneyed, but that wasn’t the case. The third season interested me just as much as the previous ones. We also got a smooth combination of storylines and characters from previous seasons. This time, the creators of “White Lotus” take us to Thailand. The fabulous views are sure to satisfy anyone longing for the charms of a warm climate, azure sea, and wild vegetation.
The interesting selection of characters: a wealthy married couple with three adult children, an eccentric couple of lovers, and three friends going on a girls’ trip provides rich material for psychological analysis. There is even a clever allegory of contemporary America, as the three friends embody the strong political divisions between liberal New York, star-studded California, and conservative Texas. The whole thing is really enjoyable to watch, the plot is not boring, and the characters do not disappoint. In a word, it’s very nice entertainment for a few evenings.
